Good Bye New Year's Resolution ... Hello Intentional Goal Setting!

Tis the season, the time of the year, when we set our goals for the New Year.  There is much hype and fluff about making New Year's resolutions and I, for one, have never really been one to set a resolution. I have found that in setting resolutions we can, and usually are, so hard on ourselves that it only serves to completely stress out our Mind, Body and Soul.  Therefore, leaving us too drained for REAL and LASTING goal setting.   

When we look deep, we will see patterns to the resolutions and goals that we set for ourselves.   I challenge you to ask yourself what is the number one reason that you didn’t meet this goal?  Did you start strong only to fizzle out and lose all ambition to carry forward?  Did the goal overwhelm you?  Did you lose interest and desire when there wasn’t instant gratification?  Or did you simply let life get in the way and decide your dream wasn't worth it??

I'm here to tell you that YOU are worth your dream and that dream is worthy of YOU making it a reality!!

This year I have done something that is new to me and set ‘Intentional Goals’ vs New Year’s resolutions.  What are Intentional Goals? And why are they different than a New Year’s Resolution? Intentional Goals are a goal for your life that is in alignment with your higher good.  

Intentional goal setting changed much for me, by going deep and really feeling my true desires.  It made incredibly apparent what was TRULY important for my soul.  Some of the ideas that I had written down before starting this process didn't even come up by the time I was finished....not even one.  I was MIND BLOWN as I was sure, or I "thought" I was sure, that these ‘ideas’ were so important for my happiness to move forward, however did not nourish my mind, body or soul.  Now that doesn't mean that they are not important - it just means that right now, in this moment, in this year they are not the forefront or the underlying truth to what you really need.

In the past, when making resolutions, we are usually our worst critic and when we do this we beat ourselves up thinking we always need to be betterbe thinner…. be smarter... be perfect.  Sound Familiar?  Those types of goals and resolutions rarely work as they pressure and add more stress to our already stressful life.  So, this year – approach it differently.  Be sure that your intentional goals support your body, mind and soul … for the right reasons.  Then build out a plan that is structured in a way to meet numerous smaller intentional goals that will set you up to successfully achieving the larger goal in sequence of many small wins over time. 

When we truly desire a way of ‘being’ - there is always a way to bring it into our reality. Intentional goal setting has opened my eyes to a new way of being and creating.   So how do you start intentional goal setting?  First you must give yourself permission to trust that your actions are in the best good of your higher self.   As you look forward to the New Year realize that you have a new canvas to which you are given to create the year on.   I humbly ask you to be true to you in setting your intentional goals!!  Ask yourself why this is important and keep digging deeper until you realize the real true answer. 

A great man once said "Ask the next 100 people you meet what they want in life, 98 percent of them will not be able to tell you. Press them for an answer and some will say security, money or happiness. Others will say fame, some will say dancing or writing, but none of them will be able to define these terms, or give the slightest indication of a plan by which they hope to attain these vaguely expressed WISHES.

To cultivate success this 2018 ... Expect challenges.  Welcome change.  Always love ‘you’ – and be forgiving of yourself if there are set backs.  Changing of habits, incorporating new ways of thinking and allowing the transformation to happen is a successful strategy to achieve your intentional goals. 

Bring on 2018!  I am excited to see the manifestation of my intentions!
